When I Return is an up-and-coming young septet from Norway who draws inspiration from the modern scene in New York. The band is co-led by Brede Sørum (alto sax) and Jørgen Bjelkerud (trombone), and they both write the band's repertoire. The music can be described as smart, a hint of rudeness, freely performed by young, searching musicians.

The band consists of some of the most interesting and exciting young musicians in Norway, and they all met during their studies at the prestigious jazz academy at NTNU in Trondheim. The musicians can be recognized from bands such as Amalie Dahls Dafnie, Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Cosmic Swing Orchestra, Schemes, Lightning Trio, Dykdypp and Pesh.
